How Does TC3 Compare to Other IT Firms?

Every IT company says it is the best fit for you. We will do the opposite and tell you plainly where we fit, where we do not, and when you should hire someone else.

Every IT company will tell you they're the best choice. That's exactly why the claim is useless to you. If everyone is the right fit for everyone, the words mean nothing.

So we'll do something different here: tell you the truth about where we fit and where we don't, including the situations where you should hire someone else. We'd genuinely rather point you to the right firm than win work we can't serve well. Here's the honest comparison, plus a few things worth weighing about any MSP you're considering.

Let's start with where we're not the right fit

If any of these describe you, we're probably not your answer, and we'd rather say so now than three months into a contract.

  • You're shopping on price alone. If the only question is who's cheapest, it isn't us. We don't run our help desk on cheaper offshore labor, and we hold a high baseline on cybersecurity that we won't cut to win a deal, because we've seen what happens when the critical pieces get trimmed to hit a number. We're built for the value shopper, not the price-only shopper.
  • You're a very small company outside professional services. If you're under roughly ten employees and not in a professional-services field, you'll likely find a less expensive option, and that's okay. We won't lower our security baseline to fit a smaller budget, because a thinner security posture isn't really a bargain.
  • You only want break-fix support. Call us when something breaks is a model the industry has moved past. It's no longer aligned with current best practices, and it isn't what we do.
  • You need a big physical buildout or cabling job. Large networking projects for a 500-person site, or physical cable installation, aren't our wheelhouse, and we don't staff for that work. What we will do is point you to firms we've worked with and trust, and we guarantee we receive no commission or kickback on that referral. (Worth noting: we can still get in front of that same 500-person company's board to present on AI readiness and AI risk. That part is our wheelhouse.)
  • You want a retail computer shop. We don't run a storefront or sell to the general public. We'll typically supply the technology our clients need, but walk-in retail isn't where our focus is.
  • You want to hand off your risk and forget it. This is the big one. You always own the risk in your company, and it's non-transferable. No vendor can take it off your shoulders, and any firm that implies otherwise is selling you a comfortable fiction. If you want to delegate the risk entirely and stop thinking about it, we're not the right partner. What we do is help you understand that risk and make good decisions about it.

Where we're strong

Now the other side of the ledger, where we're genuinely a great fit:

  • Value-minded owners who know the risk is theirs. Our best relationships are with leaders who understand that protecting the company is ultimately their responsibility, and who want a knowledgeable partner to help them carry it well rather than a vendor to blame later.
  • Professional services, engineering, and manufacturing firms. Especially those that are compliance-aware. We measure against the CIS framework and can measure against NIST, and we build to a real security standard rather than a checkbox. (For the record, we don't currently do CMMC or ITAR work. If that's central to your business, we'll tell you up front.)
  • People who want a real human, fast. Our help desk is completely US-based, as is our Security Operations Center, and our standard is a live person on the phone in typically under three minutes, around the clock.
  • Owners who are tired of surprise invoices. Our pricing is transparent and largely all-inclusive, built specifically to avoid the death by a thousand cuts that turns a low headline rate into a high final bill.
  • Businesses that want strategy, not just support. Beyond monitoring, patching, a 24/7 SOC, enforced MFA, and ongoing user training, you get executive-level guidance: virtual CIO, CISO, and CTO perspective, regular strategic reviews, and advisory that goes all the way up to AI readiness and risk at the board level.

A note on size: we look smaller than we are. We've been recognized among the top 500 MSPs for multiple years, and we deliver service at a world-class tier, while staying humble enough to know there's always room to grow, improve, and learn. The recognition matters less to us than the work; we mention it only so you know the substance is real.

What to consider when evaluating any MSP

Whether or not you choose us, these are the questions worth asking of anyone:

  • Ask where they're not a fit. A firm that claims to be perfect for everyone is telling you something, and it isn't good. Honesty about limits is a sign of a partner who'll be honest about everything else.
  • Compare fully-loaded value, not the headline price. Add up everything your business actually needs and compare the real totals. The cheapest first number is rarely the cheapest final number.
  • Look at where support actually comes from, and whether there's a real security floor. Two providers can both say security and protect you completely differently. Make them explain, in plain language, what's actually in place.
  • Ask who owns the risk. The right answer is you do, and a good partner makes sure you understand that and helps you manage it, rather than pretending to take it away.

The bottom line

The most honest thing an IT firm can tell you is the truth about fit. We're not the lowest-cost option, we're not a break-fix shop, and we're not the right call for a big cabling project or a price-only buyer. But if you're a value-minded owner in professional services, engineering, or manufacturing, someone who understands the risk is yours to own and wants a transparent, down-to-earth partner to help you manage it and grow, that's exactly who we're built for.

The way to find out isn't a sales pitch; it's a diagnostic. You can't prescribe the right plan without first understanding where you actually stand.

Let's have a straightforward conversation and an honest assessment of your environment, and if we're not the right fit, we'll tell you that, too.
